Pennsylvania Man Accused of Plotting ISIS

PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Federal authorities have arrested a 21-year-old Pennsylvania man accused of acquiring a firearm and ammunition in connection with an alleged plot to carry out an attack in support of the Islamic State (ISIS), according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

The suspect, Jonathan Hunter Kramer, of Valencia, Pennsylvania, was taken into custody by FBI agents on September 12, 2026, as part of an investigation into suspected terrorism-related activity. Authorities allege that he was preparing for a violent mission inspired by ISIS.

According to federal court documents, investigators became concerned about the suspect's online activities and alleged communications expressing support for the extremist organization. Officials say the investigation intensified after information emerged suggesting that he was preparing to obtain a weapon.

Federal authorities say agents intercepted Kramer as he returned to a hotel in Cranberry Township, north of Pittsburgh. Investigators reported that he was carrying bags containing recently purchased rifle magazines and ammunition.

Following the arrest, FBI agents executed search warrants at the hotel room and the suspect's residence.

According to the Justice Department, investigators seized a semiautomatic rifle, five rifle magazines, approximately 190 rounds of ammunition, a rifle scope, a bipod, and several other items.

Officials also described online activity in which the suspect allegedly used the name “Hamza Al Rashid,” claimed affiliation with ISIS, and discussed preparations for a mission.

The investigation is part of a broader effort by federal law enforcement agencies to identify and disrupt potential acts of politically or ideologically motivated violence before anyone is harmed.

The case has since moved forward. On October 6, 2026, a federal grand jury indicted Kramer on a charge related to receiving a firearm and ammunition while allegedly knowing they would be used in connection with a federal crime of terrorism. He remains detained pending trial, according to the Justice Department. <Cite refs={["turn234616search1"]}/>

Authorities have not publicly identified a specific intended target in the information cited in these reports.

The arrest highlights the role of intelligence gathering, online threat monitoring, and cooperation among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in investigating suspected terrorism-related activity.

Officials say early intervention can be critical when an investigation indicates that an individual may be moving from extremist rhetoric toward potential violence.

The legal proceedings will determine the allegations against the defendant. Prosecutors must establish the charge in court, and the defense has the opportunity to challenge the government's evidence.

Kramer is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. The indictment represents an accusation, not a finding of guilt. <Cite refs={["turn549133view0"]}/>

As the case proceeds, further court filings may provide additional information about the investigation and the allegations.
